Air bag suspension helps a loaded 4WD sit more level when towing or carrying touring equipment. These systems work with the existing springs to support variable load. COIL INSERT AIRBAGS
Coil inserts sit inside the existing rear coil spring and work alongside it under load. Current Tough Dog airbags cover selected LandCruiser 80, 100 and 200 Series, Prado 120 and 150 Series, FJ Cruiser, Pajero, Pajero Sport, Everest, Colorado 7 and MU-X applications. Airbag Man also supplies high-pressure coil-spring helper kits in this collection.
BELLOWS AIRBAGS
Bellows systems mount alongside or above the leaf pack on compatible leaf-sprung utes. The listed range includes selected Hilux, D-MAX and Navara D22 applications, together with Airbag Man leaf-spring helper kits. Vehicle, suspension height and bracket fitment determine the correct product.
CONTROL KITS AND GAUGES
The collection includes a dual-rocker air control kit, an Airbag Man levelling valve and a 12 Volt digital gauge. Depending on the system, these components can make pressure monitoring and adjustment more convenient. Independent left and right control can also help manage an unevenly distributed load.
AIR SUPPLY
A control kit does not necessarily include an air compressor or tank. Check the product inclusions before ordering. An air compressor kit may be useful for regular adjustment, while occasional users may prefer an external air supply. Confirm compatibility before combining air management components.
CHOOSE BY USE CASE
For a vehicle that carries a substantial permanent load, start by checking whether the springs suit that constant setup. Airbags can then provide adjustment for loads that change. Simply adding pressure should not be used to disguise springs that have already settled or are unsuitable.
For regular towing, air bag suspension can help bring the rear closer to its normal ride position after the trailer is connected. It does not increase the vehicle's axle, tyre, towing or load limits, and it is not a substitute for correct loading. For touring builds that alternate between loaded and unloaded use, adjustable pressure can provide more flexibility than relying only on a fixed heavier spring rate.
COIL INSERT VS BELLOWS
The vehicle's rear suspension design usually determines the system. Coil inserts are made for compatible coil-sprung applications. Bellows kits use application-specific brackets with compatible leaf-sprung setups. Neither type should be selected on appearance alone. Check the vehicle model, suspension height and product application before ordering.
Fitment requirements also differ between kits. Do not assume every coil insert can be installed without suspension disassembly or that every bellows kit uses the same bracket arrangement. The product instructions and the vehicle configuration should guide the installation.
PRESSURE MANAGEMENT AND CABIN CONTROL
Airbag pressure should follow the manufacturer's range for the specific kit and vehicle. Required pressure changes with load, so the correct setting cannot be reduced to one figure for every build. Airbag Man and Tough Dog Suspensions instructions should remain the primary reference.
A dual-rocker controller suits drivers who need frequent adjustment or separate left and right control. A levelling valve can manage ride-height changes as part of a compatible system. A digital gauge provides a visible pressure reading. For less frequent use, an accessible manual inflation valve may be sufficient.

Tough Dog Suspensions supplies the listed coil insert and bellows products for specific 4WD applications. Tough Dog airbags may suit a vehicle already using other Tough Dog suspension components, but compatibility should be confirmed for the complete setup.
WHAT A QUALITY AIRBAG INSTALLATION INVOLVES
Installation depends on the vehicle and kit. The bags must be positioned as directed, with air lines protected from heat, abrasion, pinching and moving components. Inflation valves, controls and gauges need accessible, secure mounting. The assembled system should be checked for leaks and clearance throughout the relevant suspension movement.
