4WD CANOPIES & TRAYS FOR TOURING AND WORK

RhinoMan, Flexi Glass and Maxliner, fitted at our Victorian workshops

A canopy turns a ute into a capable touring or work vehicle. It locks the cargo area, weatherproofs everything inside, lets you mount roof rack platforms and antennas above, and creates the foundation for drawer systems, fridges and storage that turn a ute into a touring rig. The choice between aluminium and fibreglass comes down to use case.

Ultimate Offroad supplies and fits RhinoMan CapRax aluminium canopies, Flexi Glass fibreglass canopies and Maxliner ute components. Australian-engineered, vehicle-specific, fitted with full alignment and seal at our Ferntree Gully and Pakenham workshops.

KEY CATEGORIES AND WHAT THEY'RE BUILT FOR

ALUMINIUM CANOPIES

RhinoMan CapRax. Heavier and stronger, takes roof rack loads, repairable when damaged. Standard for serious work and touring builds.

FIBREGLASS CANOPIES

Flexi Glass. Lighter (saves 30-50kg), quieter on highway, paint-matchable. Suit lifestyle utes and weekend touring.

TRAY-BACK BUILDS

Cab-chassis trays for 79 Series, 78 Troopcarrier and similar. Fabricated to spec at our Pakenham workshop with slide-on or fixed canopy options.

UTE TUB LINERS

Maxliner drop-in or moulded tub liners protect the steel tub from cargo wear and corrosion when a full canopy is not needed.

ALUMINIUM CANOPIES (RHINOMAN CAPRAX)

Aluminium canopies are heavier, stronger, and tolerate hard work. They take roof rack loads, withstand rocks and tools without denting, and are repairable when damaged. RhinoMan CapRax canopies are Australian-engineered, with vehicle-specific door cuts, pop-up roof options for camping, and integrated tie-down rails.

The standard for serious work and touring builds. We are the authorised RhinoMan installer for Victoria, and we fit CapRax with vehicle-specific templates, full sealant work and post-install water testing.

FIBREGLASS CANOPIES (FLEXI GLASS)

Fibreglass is lighter (saving 30 to 50kg over aluminium), quieter on highway, and can be colour-matched to the vehicle. Better aesthetics, lower load capacity. Suit lifestyle utes that need cargo protection but do not see daily heavy-tool use.

Flexi Glass canopies fit most Australian utes (Ranger, Hilux, Triton, Navara, Colorado, D-MAX) with full factory-fit door alignment. Best for owners who prioritise aesthetics and weight, with weekend or moderate touring use.

TRAY-BACK CANOPIES

For cab-chassis utes (and 79 Series LandCruisers, 78 Series Troopcarriers configured as cab-chassis), a flat aluminium tray plus a slide-on or fixed canopy is the most common workshop and touring configuration.

We fabricate trays to spec at our Pakenham workshop, and fit RhinoMan or custom canopies to suit. For uncommon vehicles or specific build requirements, we can fabricate to order.

MAXLINER UTE TUB LINERS

For utes where a full canopy is not needed, Maxliner ute tub liners protect the steel tub from cargo wear and corrosion. Drop-in or moulded fitments. We also stock Maxliner accessories that integrate with canopy and tonneau builds.

BRANDS WE STOCK AND WHY

RhinoMan Canopies (CapRax) covers Australian-engineered aluminium canopies for popular utes. Vehicle-specific door cuts, modular roof options, integrated rail systems for awning and roof rack accessories. The standard we install on serious work and touring rigs, with authorised installer status for Victoria.

Flexi Glass covers Australian-made fibreglass canopies: lighter, quieter, paint-matchable, suit lifestyle and weekend touring use cases. Maxliner covers premium ute tub liners and accessories: drop-in protection for the cargo bed, and supporting components for canopy builds.

If you want a canopy from a specific brand we do not list (EGR, ARB, Hidden Power) reach out to the workshop, we install many canopies on order.

CANOPY ACCESSORIES AND MATCHED BUILDS

A canopy is the foundation. Canopy accessories make it useful: side awning brackets, light tabs, gas struts, jerry can holders, antenna mounts. Most aluminium canopies have integrated rails for these accessories, while fibreglass canopies require dedicated mounting brackets.

For full coordinated builds we fit the canopy alongside drawer systems, roof rack platforms, dual battery wiring and other touring fit-outs in one workshop visit, saving time and ensuring everything integrates cleanly.

WHAT A QUALITY CANOPY FITMENT INVOLVES

Canopy fit is precision work. The seals must be set correctly so the cargo area stays dry, the door alignment must be perfect so handles work and locks engage, the bolt-down to the tub must be torqued correctly to prevent flex and water ingress.

We fit canopies at Ferntree Gully and Pakenham with vehicle templates, full sealant work and water-test post-install. We confirm a firm timeframe at booking. Submit a service enquiry with your vehicle and the canopy spec.

Frequently asked questions

Aluminium or fibreglass -- which is right for me?

Aluminium for daily work, heavy roof loads, harsh use. Fibreglass for lifestyle, weekend touring, lower weight, paint match. Most touring rigs end up aluminium.

Most popular Australian utes are covered (Ranger, Hilux, Triton, Navara, Colorado, D-MAX, Amarok, BT-50). Vehicle-specific kits ensure correct door cuts and seal lines.

Aluminium canopies (RhinoMan CapRax) carry full roof rack loads including tent. Fibreglass canopies have lower load ratings -- check the specific model. We will spec.

Fibreglass canopies, yes. Aluminium canopies, yes (powder coat or wet paint). Most aluminium canopies are supplied in factory black powder coat as the workshop standard.

Slightly. A canopy adds 50-150kg depending on type and equipment. Highway impact 1-2 L/100km on most utes.

Aluminium canopies have integrated rail systems for roof rack platforms (Rhino-Rack, Front Runner) and light bars. Fibreglass canopies require dedicated mounting brackets. We will spec.

RhinoMan and similar offer pop-top configurations that lift the roof for stand-up height inside. Premium option, useful for owners who use the canopy as primary sleeping space.

Yes if professionally fitted. The seal between canopy and tub is the main failure point on home installs. We use proper sealant, alignment templates and post-install water test.

Yes at our Pakenham workshop. Cab-chassis trays for 79 Series LandCruiser, 78 Series Troopcarrier and similar are fabricated to spec.

Booking lead time depends on canopy availability, workshop load and whether we are also fabricating a custom tray. Aluminium and fibreglass canopies in stock fit sooner than a cab-chassis tray built to spec. Send us a service enquiry with your vehicle and the canopy or tray spec and we will confirm a slot at Ferntree Gully or Pakenham at booking.

Canopy shipping is freight-booked. Contact us for quote and lead time. Most owners take canopies fitted at our workshop.
