Fully sealed breathing that returns to the induction system
Driveline housings need a breathing path as internal pressure changes. The Harrop Breather Kit uses a four-port, fully sealed system that breathes back into the vehicle's induction system.
This design differs from a conventional atmospheric breather extension. It does not relocate an open vent or filter to a higher point in the engine bay. Instead, the sealed circuit uses the induction system as its return path and eliminates the need for a breather filter.
The system is suited to driveline preparation for water crossings and dusty conditions, but it does not make the drivetrain waterproof or replace inspection and servicing after demanding use.
The Harrop Breather Kit provides a sealed alternative to conventional breather arrangements. Installation requirements depend on the intended application and the vehicle's existing layout.
The Harrop system returns breathing airflow to the induction system instead of venting through an atmospheric termination. Its fully sealed layout also removes the need for a separate breather filter.
Four-port describes the layout of the Harrop system. It does not by itself establish how many vehicle breathers will be connected in a particular installation. The intended connections and routing must follow the relevant Harrop application and installation information.
When driveline housings heat and cool, pressure changes must be managed through their breathing system. Water, mud and dust around an exposed atmospheric breather can create a contamination risk, particularly during demanding off-road use.
The Harrop Breather Kit approaches this by keeping the breathing circuit fully sealed and returning it to the induction system. This differs from conventional kits that extend an atmospheric vent to a higher location.
A breather kit remains one part of driveline preparation. It does not establish a safe wading depth, protect damaged seals or remove the need to follow the vehicle manufacturer's inspection and maintenance requirements. If contamination is suspected after a crossing, arrange appropriate driveline inspection and servicing.
For a touring vehicle that may encounter water crossings or dusty tracks, consider whether the Harrop sealed induction-return design suits the intended application and existing vehicle layout.
Installation planning should account for the required connections, the route to the induction system and nearby accessories. Modified vehicles may have different available routes or mounting locations.
