STAUN TYRE DEFLATORS

Australian-made, calibrated and brass-bodied

Staun tyre deflators provide automatic, controlled pressure reduction when you leave the bitumen. Set the calibration dial to the required off-road pressure, fit one unit to each standard Schrader valve and move to the next tyre. Each deflator stops releasing air when its tyre reaches the setpoint. Confirm the finished pressure with a separate gauge before driving.

This collection contains the standard Tyre Deflators and the reinforced Heavy Duty Tyre Deflators. Both are supplied as matched 4-piece sets for working across all four tyres.

Need it fitted? Our Ferntree Gully and Pakenham workshops supply and install everything in this range. Not sure which option suits your vehicle? Call our friendly staff on 1300 633 762 before you order.

KEY CATEGORIES AND WHAT THEY'RE BUILT FOR

A Staun deflator set, sometimes described as a Staun deflator kit, is available in standard and Heavy Duty configurations. Choose according to how often the units will be used and the type of touring involved.

STANDARD TYRE DEFLATORS

The original automatic design has a brass body, screw-on valve fitting and automatic shut-off. Staun specifies a calibrated range of 6 to 30 PSI. The four units are matched and supplied in a carry case.

HEAVY DUTY TYRE DEFLATORS

The Heavy Duty version uses reinforced seals, a stronger spring and a reinforced body. It is intended for high-use commercial applications and remote-touring rigs.

HOW STAUN DEFLATORS WORK

Each deflator screws onto a tyre's Schrader valve. A pre-loaded spring holds an internal valve open while air is released. When tyre pressure reaches the calibrated setpoint, spring tension closes the internal valve and stops the airflow.

Set and lock the calibration dial before fitting the units. Use all four deflators in sequence, then verify each tyre with a separate pressure gauge. Recalibrate if the measured stop pressure does not match the required setting.

WHY PRESSURE DROP MATTERS

Lower tyre pressure can enlarge the tyre's contact patch and allow it to flex around rocks and ruts rather than bouncing across them. This can support traction and ride quality in off-road conditions.

The appropriate setpoint is not universal. It changes with the conditions, so do not rely on a pressure simply because it suits another vehicle. Follow the relevant vehicle and tyre guidance, or speak with our workshop team if the correct starting point is unclear.

CALIBRATION AND ACCURACY

Staun's stated real-world accuracy is +/- 1 PSI, and the four units in a set are matched at the factory. Cold and hot tyre conditions can produce slight variation.

Check the actual stop pressure with a separate gauge after the first use. If the result differs from the required pressure, adjust and lock the dial again before the next use.

CHOOSE BY USE CASE

Choose the standard set for typical weekend touring and the Heavy Duty set for high-use commercial work or remote touring. Both use the same automatic shut-off principle. The main differences stated in the current range are the Heavy Duty version's reinforced body, stronger spring and reinforced seals.

If the use case sits between those categories, consider how frequently the deflators will be used and discuss the setup with the workshop team.

TYRE REINFLATION AFTER OFF-ROAD USE

Staun units deflate only. Tyres must be returned to the appropriate bitumen pressure with an air compressor after the off-road section.

A portable compressor can suit occasional or shared use. A vehicle-mounted compressor can be paired with the deflator set for a dedicated touring setup. The right arrangement depends on the vehicle and intended use.

SERVICE LIFE AND REBUILDS

The brass-bodied units have serviceable internals. Clean and inspect the seals as their condition and use require. Rebuild kits containing seals and spring components are available separately.

Replace worn internal parts when needed, then recalibrate each unit and confirm its stop pressure with a separate gauge. This avoids relying on an arbitrary service interval.

BRAND WE STOCK AND WHY

Staun is the only vendor represented in this collection. The range includes Tyre Deflators for typical touring and Heavy Duty Tyre Deflators for higher-use commercial or remote-touring applications.

Staun tyre deflators use calibrated automatic shut-off, brass-bodied construction and serviceable internals. The choice is therefore between the original configuration and the reinforced Heavy Duty version, not between unrelated operating systems.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING TYRE DEFLATORS

Check three points before buying. First, confirm that the units stop automatically at the selected pressure. Second, look for matched calibration across all four units. Third, choose serviceable construction if you want seals and internal components to be replaceable when worn.

Staun addresses those three requirements in both stocked product lines. Your use frequency and touring conditions determine whether the standard or Heavy Duty version is the better fit.

If you want our team to pair your chosen Staun deflator set with a compressor setup for your touring rig, our Ferntree Gully and Pakenham workshops can assess the vehicle and intended use. Send us a service enquiry and we will quote a matched system.

Email sales@ultimateoffroad.com.au with your vehicle details and our friendly staff will confirm fitment, quote the work and arrange a booking at Ferntree Gully or Pakenham.

Frequently asked questions

How do Staun deflators work?

Each unit screws onto a standard Schrader tyre valve. A pre-loaded spring holds the internal valve open while air is released. When tyre pressure reaches the calibrated setpoint, the valve closes automatically. Fit the four units in sequence, then check the finished pressure with a separate gauge before driving.

Use all four units together, fitting one to each tyre in sequence. They stop automatically at the setpoint, so a fixed completion time is not appropriate. Check each tyre with a separate pressure gauge before returning to bitumen or changing terrain again.

Staun specifies a calibrated range of 6 to 30 PSI for the standard units. That covers the off-road pressures described in the current product copy. It is not a bitumen inflation range. Confirm the target pressure for your vehicle and conditions before calibrating the set.

Staun's stated real-world accuracy is +/- 1 PSI, with the four units matched at the factory. Cold and hot tyre conditions can produce slight variation. After the first use, confirm every tyre with a separate pressure gauge and adjust the calibration dial if the stop pressure differs.

No. Staun units only release air. After off-road use, tyres must be returned to the appropriate bitumen pressure with an air compressor. A portable or vehicle-mounted compressor can be paired with the deflator set according to the touring setup you use.

The Heavy Duty version uses reinforced seals, a stronger spring and a reinforced body for high-use commercial or remote-touring rigs. The standard version uses the original automatic design and is positioned for typical weekend touring. Both stop automatically at the calibrated setpoint.

Yes. The brass-bodied units have serviceable internals, and rebuild kits with seals and spring components are available separately. Clean and inspect the seals as condition and use require. Replace worn internal parts when needed, then recalibrate and verify the stop pressure with a separate gauge.

They are designed for standard Schrader valves, the type used on car and 4WD tyres. They do not fit Presta bicycle valves or industrial valves. If your wheel uses a different valve arrangement, confirm compatibility before ordering rather than assuming the thread and sealing surface will match.

Yes. Our Ferntree Gully and Pakenham workshops can inspect the seals, recalibrate the dials and assess a suitable vehicle-mounted compressor pairing. Submit a service enquiry with the vehicle and equipment details so the team can confirm the required workshop work before booking.

Warranty coverage depends on Staun's applicable product terms and the outcome of a fault assessment. Keep your proof of purchase and contact Ultimate Offroad with the product details and a description of the issue. The team can then advise on the appropriate inspection or warranty process.

Yes. The Staun range can be shipped nationally. Availability and freight arrangements may depend on the selected set and delivery address. Confirm the product and delivery details when ordering so Ultimate Offroad can provide the applicable shipping options before the order is completed.
