WHY USE A MODULAR BALL-AND-SOCKET SYSTEM

A modular system lets the base, arm and adapter be selected separately. This makes it easier to alter the camera angle, replace one component or retain part of the setup when the mounting location changes. It also prevents the camera connection from determining the entire installation.

The advantage depends on correct matching. Components that look similar may use different ball sizes, threads or interfaces. Confirm the complete parts list before ordering rather than assuming every RAM component connects directly to every other part.

CHOOSE BY MOUNT LOCATION

Dash or cabin: consider the available attachment point, driver visibility and whether the installation needs to be removable. The Seat Tough-Wedge is the listed no-drill option for an in-cabin setup.

Fixed exterior point: a diamond base or male threaded post may suit an appropriate prepared mounting point. The surface, fasteners and surrounding structure must be assessed before installation.

Suction-mounted position: the Double Suction Cup Base provides another listed base option. Surface condition and the complete assembly matter, so assess the intended position before relying on it in rough conditions.

Roof rack, canopy or tray: select the attachment method first, then use the shortest compatible arm that achieves the required view. Do not assume a clamp base is included in this collection.

Changing between vehicles: a modular assembly can simplify changes, but each vehicle still needs a suitable compatible mounting point. A second base may be more practical than repeatedly removing an installed base.

Mounting location: decide whether the base will be fixed, suction-mounted or held in the cabin. Then choose an arm length that reaches the required position without adding unnecessary leverage.
