CAR TABLET MOUNT COMPONENTS FOR 4WD NAVIGATION

Secure, adjustable mounting components for navigation tablets in touring and work vehicles

A car tablet mount needs to hold the screen where it can be read without obstructing essential controls, visibility or airbag deployment areas. The complete setup usually combines a tablet cradle, socket arm and suitable base. Each component must match the tablet, case, mounting location and adjoining RAM interface. This collection includes RAM Mounts Tab-Tite holders and the components needed to configure a practical mounting system.

An iPad car mount is not selected by screen size alone. Case thickness, tablet generation, charging access and the available mounting surface all matter. Selecting the tablet holder base is equally important because a drill base, suction base, no-drill mount and seat-wedge option suit different installations.

Need it fitted? Our Ferntree Gully and Pakenham workshops supply and install everything in this range. Not sure which option suits your vehicle? Call our friendly staff on 1300 633 762 before you order.

KEY CATEGORIES AND WHAT THEY'RE BUILT FOR

TAB-TITE TABLET CRADLES

The listed options include Tab-Tite Tablet Holder for Apple iPad Pro 9.7 with Case, Tab-Tite Tablet Holder for Apple iPad Gen 1-4 + More, Tab-Tite Tablet Holder for Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A1 + More, Tab-Tite Spring Loaded Holder for 9.7-inch Tablets and Tab-Tite Holder for 9-inch Tablets with Heavy Duty Cases. Match the exact tablet and its fitted case to the relevant holder description before ordering.

SOCKET ARMS

The range includes the Short Double Socket Arm, Double Socket Arm for B Size 1 and Long Length Double Socket Arm for B Size 1. Arm choice affects reach and positioning. More reach is not automatically better because additional movement may place the tablet closer to controls, the windscreen or occupants.

BASES AND MOUNTS

Available mounting options include the Round Drill Base, Ram Diamond Base, Double Suction Cup Base, No-Drill Vehicle Mount and Seat Tough-Wedge. A drilled base is intended for an installation where the mounting surface and fixing method are suitable. No-drill and vehicle-mounted options still require fitment checks. A suction base prioritises removability, but heat, surface condition and vibration should be considered.

ACCESSORIES AND ADAPTERS

The 1-inch Ball with Male Threaded Post and Double Ball Adaptor support custom combinations. Confirm the thread, ball size and connection at every point rather than assuming that visually similar RAM components are interchangeable.

WHY CHOOSE A MODULAR RAM MOUNT SETUP

RAM Mounts is the only vendor represented in this collection. Its modular format allows the cradle, arm and base to be selected separately. That is useful when the tablet fits an available Tab-Tite holder but the vehicle requires a different mounting position or arm length.

Modularity also makes later changes possible, provided the replacement component uses the correct interface. Check compatibility whenever changing a cradle, arm or base. Tablet dimensions, case design and connection size remain more reliable selection criteria than the device name alone.

CHOOSE BY TABLET AND MOUNTING LOCATION

For an Apple iPad Pro 9.7 used with a case, start with the holder specifically titled for that combination. Earlier Apple iPad Gen 1-4 models and the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A1 have separate listed holders. The collection also includes holders described for 9.7-inch tablets and 9-inch tablets in heavy-duty cases.

For the mounting location, choose by use case:

  • Permanent mounting: Consider a round or diamond drill base only after checking the substrate, fixing method and clearance behind it.
  • Vehicle-specific installation: Check the application of the No-Drill Vehicle Mount against the exact vehicle before purchase.
  • Removable mounting: Consider the Double Suction Cup Base where the surface, visibility and operating conditions are appropriate.
  • Alternative cabin position: Assess the Seat Tough-Wedge where it can be positioned without interfering with seat operation, occupants or controls.

BRANDS WE STOCK AND WHY

This collection stocks RAM Mounts products only. The useful distinction is not a broad claim that one brand suits every installation. It is the availability of separate Tab-Tite holders, socket arms, bases and adapters that can be matched to a particular tablet and vehicle layout.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING A TABLET MOUNT

Measure the tablet with its normal case fitted. Check the holder description against the device generation and dimensions. Then plan the screen position from the driver's seated eye line. It should not obstruct the road view, instruments, controls or any identified airbag deployment area.

Allow for charging-cable access and movement at each joint. Confirm that the arm and base use compatible connections, and check that the proposed mounting surface can support the installation method. Vehicle construction and legal requirements vary, so consult the applicable state or territory rules when visibility or cabin safety could be affected.

Some combinations may be suitable for owner installation. Drilled, vehicle-specific or hard-wired setups require more care. For help matching the cradle, arm and base, or for a tidy installation and charging cable route, our Ferntree Gully and Pakenham workshops can assess the vehicle and tablet together. Send us a service enquiry with the vehicle details, tablet model and case information.

Email sales@ultimateoffroad.com.au with your vehicle details and our friendly staff will confirm fitment, quote the work and arrange a booking at Ferntree Gully or Pakenham.

Frequently asked questions

Will a RAM Mount handle corrugated tracks?

Corrugations place sustained vibration through the base, arm, joints and cradle. Performance therefore depends on the complete combination, correct tightening and installation surface, not the RAM name alone. Choose compatible components and recheck the mount before travel. For repeated rough-road use, ask our workshops to assess the proposed location and cable routing.

Only if the cradle is matched to the tablet with that case fitted. This collection includes holders described for an Apple iPad Pro 9.7 with a case and for 9-inch tablets with heavy-duty cases. Compare the product description with the device dimensions and case thickness before ordering. Do not choose from nominal screen size alone.

Any mount can create a risk if it is installed within an airbag deployment area or becomes an obstruction during deployment. Clearance depends on the vehicle, mounting point, arm position and tablet size. Check the vehicle manufacturer's information and applicable state or territory requirements. Our workshops can help assess a proposed location, but the installation must be evaluated vehicle by vehicle.

Heat, surface condition, dust and vibration can all affect a suction-mounted installation. A Double Suction Cup Base is useful where removability is important, but it should not be treated as suitable for every off-road application. Inspect and clean the mounting surface regularly. Consider a correctly installed fixed or vehicle-mounted base for demanding conditions.

The available socket arms allow positioning adjustment, but the final range of movement depends on the cradle, arm, base and nearby cabin surfaces. Confirm that the chosen holder supports the intended tablet orientation and that rotation will not contact the dash, windscreen or controls. Position the tablet only when the vehicle is stationary.

B Size 1 is the sizing language used in the listed RAM socket-arm product titles. It matters because the arm must connect correctly to both the base and the cradle-side component. Do not assume that every RAM part or similar-looking ball uses the same interface. Check each product description and ask us if the complete combination is unclear.

Do not assume universal fitment. Compatibility depends on the specific No-Drill Vehicle Mount, vehicle model, variant, cabin layout and available fixing points. Confirm the application before ordering and provide the vehicle details when asking for advice. No-drill describes the mounting approach, not guaranteed compatibility with every 4WD or every tablet position.

Some compatible component combinations may be suitable for careful owner installation. Drilled or vehicle-specific mounting requires appropriate tools, access and awareness of wiring, trim and safety systems. For workshop fitting, contact Ultimate Offroad with the vehicle, tablet, case and preferred screen position. We can assess the setup at Ferntree Gully or Pakenham and discuss the work required.

Warranty terms can vary by product and by the nature of any reported issue. Keep the purchase and fitting records, stop using a component if it appears damaged, and contact Ultimate Offroad with photographs and installation details. We can explain the applicable process after identifying the product and whether the concern relates to the component, installation or vehicle mounting point.
