An ARB brushless compressor provides a 12V air source for tyre inflation, ARB Air Lockers and suitable air-system builds. This collection covers four configurations: single and twin onboard compressors, plus single and twin portable kits. Choosing between them depends on required airflow, the number of vehicles involved and whether the compressor must form part of a permanently plumbed system.
A single suits many touring vehicles that need dependable tyre inflation and occasional locker operation. Twin configurations provide more airflow for larger workloads, repeated inflation or systems serving front and rear lockers. Portable kits can move between vehicles. Onboard units trade that flexibility for immediate access and integration with switches, manifolds and remote air points.

KEY CATEGORIES AND WHAT THEY'RE BUILT FOR
ARB BRUSHLESS SINGLE ONBOARD
A hard-mounted 12V compressor for tyre inflation and ARB Air Locker control. It suits owners who want an integrated air supply without moving to a twin-head unit.
ARB BRUSHLESS TWIN ONBOARD
Two compressor heads for higher-flow onboard systems. The ARB brushless twin is suited to repeated tyre inflation, front and rear locker systems and compatible air-tool use.
ARB BRUSHLESS TWIN PORTABLE KIT
The ARB brushless twin in a portable format. It provides the higher-output configuration without committing the compressor to one vehicle.
ARB BRUSHLESS SINGLE PORTABLE KIT
A smaller portable option for owners who primarily need to reinflate tyres and want to share one ARB compressor kit between vehicles.
WHY CHOOSE BRUSHLESS OVER BRUSHED
Brushed motors use carbon brushes that wear through operation. A brushless motor switches the windings electronically and removes those brushes from the motor design. ARB attributes cooler operation, quieter running, faster recovery and longer service life to its brushless range compared with the brushed compressors it replaces.
Heat management matters when a compressor is working through several tyres, particularly in warm conditions. Thermal protection can interrupt a compressor when operating limits are reached. A cooler-running design can support longer working periods, but actual performance still depends on ambient temperature, tyre size, starting pressure, power supply and installation quality.
SINGLE VS TWIN: WHICH ONE
The single is the practical starting point for one touring 4WD, routine tyre inflation and a straightforward locker setup. It occupies less space than the twin and places lower demands on the available mounting area.
The twin provides roughly twice the available airflow of the single configuration. Consider an ARB brushless twin when the vehicle has front and rear ARB Air Lockers, regularly inflates multiple large tyres or needs a higher-flow air supply. Actual inflation and recovery times vary with operating conditions, so the system should be selected around the vehicle rather than a headline time.
ONBOARD VS PORTABLE
An onboard ARB 12V compressor is ready whenever the vehicle is powered and can be connected to a manifold, locker system or remote inflation point. The trade-off is installation. The mounting position, cable routing, switching and air lines all need to be planned around the vehicle.
Portable kits avoid a permanent installation and can be moved between compatible vehicles. They are useful for multi-vehicle households and owners who change vehicles regularly. They still need secure storage, suitable access to power and enough room to operate with ventilation.
CHOOSE BY USE CASE
For a daily-driven tourer that mainly reinflates one set of tyres, start with the brushless single. Choose onboard when quick access and permanent integration matter. Choose portable when the compressor needs to serve more than one vehicle.
For a heavier air-system workload, assess the brushless twin. It is the stronger fit for repeated inflation, front and rear locker systems or suitable air tools. The portable twin keeps that flexibility between vehicles, while the onboard twin supports a permanently wired and plumbed installation.
WHAT A QUALITY ARB BRUSHLESS COMPRESSOR INSTALLATION INVOLVES
An onboard compressor needs clean intake air, ventilation and protection from excessive heat, water exposure, vibration and abrasion. Common mounting areas include the engine bay, tub or canopy area, and behind a seat where the vehicle layout allows. Every position has trade-offs involving heat, airflow, service access and cable length.
The electrical supply should use correctly rated protection and wiring suited to the selected single or twin compressor. The switch must be accessible, connections must be secure and grounding must be planned properly. Air lines should be kept clear of exhaust components, sharp edges and moving parts. Systems using lockers, manifolds or remote outlets also need leak and function checks before handover.
