The Bush Company

The Bush Company has been making touring camping gear for the Australian market since 2017. The brand's hard shell rooftop tents and 270 Series awnings have become the standard equipment on serious touring rigs across Victoria and Australia, and there is a reason for that: the gear is built around how Australians actually camp, not adapted from a US or UK product line.

Ultimate Offroad stocks the full Bush Company range, from the AX27 hard shell tent to the 270 Series awnings and supporting accessories. Australian-designed, locally supported, fitted at our Victorian workshops on rated roof rack platforms.

KEY CATEGORIES AND WHAT THEY'RE BUILT FOR

HARD SHELL ROOFTOP TENTS

The AX27 Clamshell and TX27 Hardshell rooftop tents are the hard shell options listed here. Check the individual listing for the shell, canopy material and deployment method of each, and reach out to our friendly staff if you are not sure which suits your setup.

Both fit on rated roof rack platforms (Front Runner Slimline II, Rhino-Rack Pioneer, ARB Base Rack) on most popular Australian 4WDs (Ranger, Hilux, Triton, Patrol, Prado, LandCruiser, D-MAX, MU-X, Navara). Check the tent weight and your roof rack platform rating against the vehicle before ordering.

270 SERIES AWNINGS

The 270 XT and 180 XT MAX awnings deploy in under 30 seconds, cover the side and rear of the vehicle, and stay deployed in moderate wind without poles. Side and rear walls (sold separately) extend the awning into a fully enclosed space when needed.

The benchmark touring awning for many Australian builds. Marine-grade fabric, no-pole self-supporting design, handles moderate wind and rain without anchoring; for strong wind, anchor with the included pegs and guy ropes. Faster setup than any pole awning we have used.

TENT AND AWNING ACCESSORIES

Annexes, walls, ladder extensions, mattress upgrades, anti-condensation mats, awning lighting and the supporting kit that turns a tent and an awning into a comfortable bush camp. Browse tent and awning accessories for the full range.

For owners building a permanent touring camp setup, the accessory list grows: side walls, end walls, mesh walls, annex rooms, awning lights, anti-condensation mats. The right combination depends on how you camp and where you go.

WHY THE BUSH COMPANY VS CHEAPER ALTERNATIVES

The Bush Company gear costs more than entry-level rooftop tents from cheaper brands. The reason is build quality and serviceability. Premium tents and awnings hold up to a season of touring corrugations, salt air, alpine condensation and 45-degree heat. Cheap tents do not.

The brand also has full Australian service support: spares are available, warranty claims are processed locally, and the kit is supported for years rather than abandoned after the first season. Premium The Bush Company tents typically last 10 to 15 years with regular touring use, with the fabric and aluminium structure serviceable.

WHAT A QUALITY ROOFTOP TENT FITMENT INVOLVES

Rooftop tents and awnings need a rated mounting platform. Most factory roof racks are not rated for the dynamic loads of an open rooftop tent (60 to 90kg base weight plus occupants).

We fit Bush Company tents and awnings on Front Runner Slimline II, Rhino-Rack Pioneer or ARB Base Rack platforms at Ferntree Gully and Pakenham, with full alignment to vehicle and pre-deployment testing. We confirm a firm timeframe at booking. Submit a service enquiry with your vehicle.
