Staying under the vehicle’s Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) can feel impossible.
Tough Dog Suspension is a recognised Second Stage Manufacturer (SSM), authorised to develop and federally certify components that increase your Ford Ranger P703’s GVM. This lets you legally carry more payload without risking compliance or road safety.
Each complete GVM kit is extensively tested to maintain full ADR compliance.
Federal approval for GVM upgrades requires stringent testing to ensure the vehicle performs as well, or better, than the factory specification.
With a Tough Dog GVM upgrade, your Ford Ranger P703 will retain excellent handling and braking performance, even when heavily loaded. Testing requirements can include:
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) testing: Verifies the maximum load capacity of the axles.
- Brake Testing: Conducted laden and unladen, including partial system failure tests, to comply with ADR35/00.
- ESC Testing: If required, ensures the electronic stability control system performs equal to or better than the OEM vehicle.
The GVM of a vehicle is the maximum weight specified by the manufacturer when fully laden. Tough Dog GVM upgrades allow your Ford Ranger P703 to legally carry more weight without breaching ADRs or road laws.
Approval depends on registration status:
- Federal Approval: Applies to new vehicles not yet registered. Includes an additional compliance plate issued with the kit.
- State Approval: For already-registered vehicles, certification is granted using Federal compliance data and an inspection by an authorised state engineer.
